This fall and winter, Wayne will conduct a full revaluation of property for tax assessments. Since these occur infrequently, people will have questions and concerns… How does it work? How will it affect me? Will I be able to raise questions or concerns about my own valuation results?

Matt Caldwell of RJD Appraisals is the Town Assessor and will be available on this Zoom session to outline how this will work and answer questions.

The Town’s estimated total taxable valuation is $184 million. The total taxable valuation has seen slow growth: in 2014 it was $181 million – only a 2% increase in 11 years. As the pandemic winds down, many people are leaving the city for country life. This has caused a sellers’ market. Locally we have seen several properties sell for more than assessed. Our tax base, then, has fallen well behind the market. It has been customary to conduct revaluations every ten to 15 years, and Wayne’s time has come.
The session will be recorded, and there will always be opportunities to ask further questions you may have.
