Two years ago a massive bloom affected Androscoggin Lake from mid August all the way to early December. A few weeks ago, it emerged again and visibility in the water is very low. A Swimming advisory has been issued. One report has it that in 34 years it has never been as bad as these 2 years.
What is going on? What is the cause? Is there anything we can do about these blooms? Are more of them likely in the future? We are hearing many of these questions.
