In August 2024, Lloyd Irland took a trip through the Great Plains - a world utterly unlike Maine. It took him from La Junta, Colorado to the Missouri Breaks and on to the Mandan Villages in North Dakota. He went part way on dirt roads, and deliberately avoided people. Two of his brothers came along. Irland is in his 6th year as selectman of Wayne.
